A cleanroom has environmental controls in which the air supply, air distribution, filtration of the supply air, materials of construction, and specifications/operating procedures are regulated to control airborne particle concentrations to meet appropriate cleanliness levels and other environmental parameters. Differential pressures (positive or negative) are monitored and set based on owner needs. Secondary controls of temperature, relative humidity, electromagnetic interference are also monitored. ISO 14644-1:2015 Airborne Cleanliness Classification focuses on contamination control. Other regulatory bodies such as the FDA may also require microbial sampling.
